FANG Huawen is a professor at the School of Foreign Languages, Soochow University. His research interests include literary translation, theories of translation, and the history of translation. He has been recognized as the most prolific literary translator in China today. He has authored dozens of books on Chinese culture, such as Chinese Gardens and Ethnic Groups in China, and published translations of many English novels including Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, and Les Miserables.
