Undergraduate Curriculum

The School of Translation Studies has established translation and interpreting orientations, which aims at practical training for translators to meet industry requirements. During students’ first and second years, the focus is on the teaching of languages and general knowledge.

Therefore, courses such as history of European civilization, history of natural science, cross-cultural communication, and listening and note-taking are offered. During their third and fourth years, translation teaching becomes the focus. Therefore, courses such as commercial translation, science and technology translation, editing and translating of news, sight interpreting, and conference interpreting are offered, which is learned using material from the University of Leeds and the European Union for reference. With the support of a computer-aided translation lab and a simultaneous interpreting lab, the ability of students in both translation and interpreting can be developed.
